Terms & Conditions – Membership

Applying to be a member of the Christian Democratic Party (CDP):

Membership Benefits:

  1. All members will be invited to Annual, Ordinary and Extraordinary Meetings 

  1. A member will automatically receive voting rights after four months consecutive membership

  2. All members with voting rights are eligible to apply to be an Officer of the Party when a position becomes available

  3. All members are invited to interact socially should they wish, and share their views / ideas at meetings. We want our members to feel listened to and supported

Membership Requirements:

  1. Members of the CDP are not allowed to be a member of another political party or any organisation incompatible with the CDP

  2. To be become a member of the CDP you will need to be of legal voting age (currently 18 years of age or older) on the date of joining

  3. Members must be registered on the electoral roll in either England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland

  1. We will not share your details with anyone outside the party without prior consent

  2. All membership applications are made and processed through our website

  3. On applying to join the CDP you will be required to pay the appropriate membership fee based on the selected ‘Membership Plan’ cost as stated on our website at the time of your application. Membership will auto-renew on the due date either monthly or annually dependent on the ‘Membership Plan’ selected on joining

  4. The first four months of all memberships will be deemed ‘provisional’ and start from the date that members are added to the national members list.

  5. After four months a member will receive party voting rights for internal party affairs

  6. The CDP reserves the right to reject an application

  7. The CDP reserves the right to cancel a membership during the provisional period

  8. Notice of cancellation of membership from a member is required by email to the CDP no later than 14 days prior to when the next subscription is due to be taken

  9. The member agrees that correspondence from the CDP can be made via email address / residential address / phone number / social media account and any other contact information that the member has provided and that by supplying this personal data the member agrees that the CDP, elected representatives of the party and any candidates in internal party elections may contact you using any of the data you have supplied

  10. Membership fees are not refundable (after the statutory minimum 14 day cooling off period)

  11. Anyone making a donation to the party (other than membership fees) will need to conform to the Political Party Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (PPERA). Donations must be from the donor’s own funds and cannot come via a third party. It is a legal requirement to reveal all true sources of donations and donations are non tax-deductible.

  12. Anyone registering with the CDP to open an account, or become a member, or use a service we provide might require you to complete a registration process. You must provide the CDP with current, full and accurate information according to the requirements of the relevant registration form. The responsibility for maintaining the confidentiality of any password / passwords to your account is entirely yours. You are also entirely responsible for any and / or all actions and activities that take place under your account. If any unauthorised use of your account should happen, or any breach of security of your account takes place, you agree to notify the Christian Democratic Party immediately. The Christian Democratic Party will not be liable for any loss that you may incur as a result of someone else using your password or account, either with or without your knowledge. However, please be aware that you could be held liable for losses incurred by the Christian Democratic Party or another party due to someone else using your account or password. At no time are you allowed to use someone else's account without the permission of the account holder. All account holders / members must be 18 years of age or over and registered on the electoral roll.

  13. Under the Political Party Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (PPERA) you must be on the electoral register in the UK excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man in order to make a donation of more than £500. If you donate more than £7,500 to the Party, we are obliged under the Political Parties Elections and Referendums Act 2000 to report such a donation to the Electoral Commission, who will publish the fact that you have made a donation over £7,500. We check each donation before accepting it, and we reserve the right to not accept a donation.

Loss of Membership:

Non Payment

  1. Non-payment of member’s fees will result in membership being withdrawn and voting rights being lost

  2. Renewal of membership following non-payment will be treated as a new application


A member will be expelled from the CDP for conduct reasons including but not limited to:

  1. If your application at any point is found to contain falsehoods

  2. Your actions are deemed by the NEC to bring (or have brought) the CDP into disrepute

  3.  A two-thirds majority decision of the National Executive Committee (NEC) will be required for any member to be expelled (or have their application rejected) from the party

  4. In all such cases the NEC’s decision will be final

  5. Expelled members will not be allowed to re-join the party

Members will be notified of any changes to these terms and conditions.
