A congregation of people for SOLIDARITY and CONSCIENCE for LIFE
Morality and Justice
Integrity, Honesty, Morality and Justice Central to Christianity are key attributes such as integrity, honesty, morality and justice. These attributes are therefore central to the CDP. Selflessness and service (to others) is also central to Christianity, therefore we seek to server you, the public, to the very best of our ability.
Equality We believe in genuine equality. We believe in upholding the rights of individuals. We also expect individuals to accept the responsibilities associated with those rights.
Public Office Standards of behaviour in public office have deteriorated. Corporate governance is dominated by the balance sheet and existing fiduciary duty to shareholders, to the detriment of the public interest. The actions and behaviour of the individual citizen can cross the boundary of acceptability. The response to this is not more overbearing legislation. Instead, the emphasis should be on teaching courtesy and good-manners, promoting a culture of moderation and modesty, and setting general codes and duties for public and corporate governance that prioritise honesty and integrity.
Corruption We strongly oppose all forms of lies, false promises, deliberate misinformation and corruption.
Justice We believe in justice for all regardless of race, religion and nationality. We oppose greed and believe that political parties should lead by example.
Human Dignity and Respect From conception to natural death each person has the right to dignity and respect. We respect the dignity and diversity of all people throughout the world. Dignity is the source of our freedom, our creativity and our struggle for justice. Dignity is everyone's most basic human right and as such should always be defended and respected. Many people receive an unfair share of the world's resources. We must respect that common human dignity that binds us in global solidarity and gives us hope for a better life for all. The poor of the world are not dispensable. They can never be sacrificed for some future benefit.
Courts and the Legal System Too many citizens are denied justice because they cannot afford to employ a lawyer. The rules and process are overly complicated and a barrier to self-representation. The courtroom is a closed-shop for lawyers. Arrogant and pompous judges are dismissive of ordinary litigants who are treated with contempt. We believe in open access to the civil courts and a tribunal and magisterial system where at every level lay-assessors sit with and alongside judges. Common sense and objectivity must be the prime consideration.
There have and continue to be miscarriages of justice in the criminal courts. The adversarial system leaves a lot to be desired. The Crown Prosecution Service is not fit for purpose, often acting as judge and jury even to the extent of intervening in and stopping private prosecutions. Their interpretation of the 'public interest' is at odds with the common sense interpretation. In numerous cases the Prosecution have withheld evidence and information from the Defense. There are serious concerns about the power for judges to direct juries and the prevention of jurists from asking for further and better evidence. We believe that the criminal justice system should be inquisitorial with the prime aim of obtaining the truth. The role of the judge is to achieve that aim, with all decisions to be taken by the jury.
We also have concerns about the standards and ethos of law schools. The composition and remit of the Law Commission needs to be overhauled.
Conscientious Objection, Freedom of Speech and Assembly It is important that civic and public authorities do not hinder the right to demonstrate and express sincerely held opinions and views that are legitimately derived. There has been an increasing tendency by the zealous authorities to harass and hinder those who profess traditional values, and in particular Christians who live their faith. The right to conscientious objection is abused, dismissed and eroded. We believe in and will uphold the absolute right to conscientious objection.
It is also a matter of great concern that the authorities can also go to the other extreme by allowing head-to head counter demonstrations and protests. In many cases the aim of the counter-protesters is to deny the right and freedom of assembly, expression and free speech to others. This aggressive behaviour leads to confrontation and violence.
We believe in and will promote a culture of peace and harmony.
We stand for the Family The traditional family is increasingly under attack. Weakening the family has serious negative repercussions. Efforts to stem the tide of family disintegration are urgently needed. We will promote measures to preserve and protect families.
We will strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society. Preserve and protect marriage between a man and a woman. Protect life before as well as after birth. Uphold the right to practice their religion, so long as it does not infringe the rights of others.
We will preserve the right of parents to direct the moral, spiritual and intellectual upbringing of their children. This includes the rights of parents to determine the education of their children and/or home-schooling.
Young people are threatened by the evil use of advertising techniques that stimulate the natural inclination to avoid hard work by promising the immediate satisfaction of every desire. Modern society will find no solution to ecological problems unless it takes a serious look at its lifestyles. It is worth repeating, we will promote a culture of moderation and modesty.
A nation that kills its own children is a nation without hope. As the family goes, so goes the nation - and so goes the whole world in which we live.
A Force for Good in the World It may come as a surprise to the citizens of the United Kingdome to know that currently this country is not a force for good. Our foreign policy is not ethical and we are the leading proponents and funders of destructive and life threatening population control measures throughout the world. Our Government's involvement in the work of United Nations agencies is covert. At the same time the Government disregards and misinterprets UN charters and conventions to which it is a signatory. We will change that. The UK will be a force for good. Our objective is to achieve the ultimate goal of worldwide security and stability. The UK is well placed as a permanent member of the UN Security Council to achieve that goal. We would adopt an independent position and be a critical hard-friend to the United States.
Peace and Freedom Peace is the key to everything. For without peace you cannot get the Truth. And without truth you cannot get Justice. Without justice you will never achieve forgiveness, and if you cannot forgive there will be no healing and reconciliation. And as we know - the truth will set you free. It is peace that leads to Freedom.
